The Parable of the Good Samaritan

Tonight I was on my way out for a run when I noticed that my neighbor across the hall had left her keys in the door.  I immediately was worried and thought the worst.  I knocked on her door twice and got no answer.  I wasn't sure if I should call the police or the landlord or what.  At the same time, it wasn't anything drastic, like the door wasn't smashed in and I didn't see any sign of anything super out of place besides the keys left in the door.  I struggled with maybe should I call someone or just go for my run and then come back and knock again if the keys were still there.  I just wasn't sure if I would be like over stepping boundaries by continuing to knock or calling someone.  I know it's always better to be safe than sorry and I didn't want to do nothing and then have had something bad happen!

I decided ok, i'll go for my run and if the keys are gone when I get back maybe I'll just check in on her by knocking again?  I wasn't sure if knocking again would be overstepping the bounds either??!?!  I went for my run and when I came back the keys were gone and I could hear the TV from the hallway.  Which was normal.  Usually you can hear TV's from the hallway if they are on loud enough.  Usually I hear her's and another one when I am coming home sometimes from work.  This settled my mind.  I assumed that she just forgot to take her keys out.  I mean who hasn't left their keys in the door at least 1 time.  If you are stressed out or carrying a lot of groceries and COMPLETELY forgot you had the keys in the door or maybe you just had to pee soooooooooo bad and you left them in the door.

It reminded me of that story though "The Parable of the Good Samaritan" one.

If you aren't familiar you can read it here:  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+10%3A25-37&version=NIV

I kind of always question you know like how much do you help and how far do you go?  I don't know, I feel like tonight I maybe should have actually just called the landlord right away or something.  I always second guess if I'm doing the right thing and try to seek out confirmation as to if it's ok or not.  In this situation I couldn't do that.  So I guess I did all that I should have?  I don't know if I should have done more and actually checked up or even gone as far as to call the police.  But I definitely think keeping an eye out for neighbors and those around you and just lending a helping hand to those around you that might be in need of it is the way to go.

After all, I've definitely come to learn that we really are all just as valuable as the next person.  No one is more important or better than the next person.  Each of us has something to offer and I think when you look at people at the core we are all good.  Everyone is definitely put here to do something and each person has something unique about them.

I think I was definitely put on this earth to help those around me.  I usually do that in the form of computer help... but I try to help in other ways.  It always troubles me as to how people can purposely be malicious and do things to people like hurt them or steal from them.  I mean, I'll admit that sometimes I say stupid things, but I definitely always regret them as soon as I say them and then immediately  want to apologize to the person.  I think the best I can do is just try to keep bettering myself as a person and try to keep being the best person I can be to those around me... either those I know like friends, family or coworkers or even strangers.

I think it's best to just always try to think what the right thing to do is around other people and them perhaps just try to seek confirmation that all is well.

Well that was my evening.  So to everyone out there on the internet world... be peaceful and be well.  I hope everyone has a problem free and super fantastic day tomorrow.  Just cherish the little things that come your way and don't worry too much about any troubles that might pop up either.  Hopefully they can be easily resolved! So, yep... peace and chicken grease... or something like that.
