11/11/11

I did a post before when it was 9/10/11... well now tomorrow it's 11/11/11 almost 2 months later.  Time just goes by soooooooo fast I guess!

Well anywho... I've always heard when it's 11:11 at night you are supposed to make a wish.  I've made a wish or two before at that time... but I never seemed to have it come true!  Oh well.  Well...  I guess it just wasn't meant to be.  I don't know for sure but maybe the MEGA wish time will be 11:11 on 11/11/11.  I'm going to try and make one of the wishes I made before... I don't think it will come true... but we'lllllll seeeeeee....

If it does come true I'll post up that it came true!  But until then, I can't say what the wish will be!  Because I mean EVERYONE knows that if you tell someone what your wish is... it won't come true!  Soooo it's all secret right now.  All I can say is... I WISH this would come true SOOOOOOOOO much (that's how much I wish it would, so I really wish it would a whole bunch).  It would just be awesome if it would.  But I don't know... If life has taught me anything it's not to get your hopes up.  Don't expect anything and then when things DO happen... it's above and beyond.  Or expect the unexpected.  I think that's the other phrase.

Ok so quick story time about wishing... When I was little I went to this summer sports camp called Skylemar... it was cool and all... but there was one fundimental problem... I don't like sports.... sooooooooo I tried to spend as much time as possible either doing water skiing (which I do like).  Or in the arts and crafts place.  Or out sailing... or I also enjoyed the HAM radio club.  Also there was a small dark room that was extra creepy and we would take pictures with old school manual cameras and then develop the photos using all the photo developing chemicals and drip pans and then clipping them to dry on the string... it was actually pretty cool.

Well on the VERY last night of camp we would all go to the lake for a giant crazy super sized bon fire.  I'm pretty sure they burned entire tree trunks in that thing and not just logs I mean this thing was SERIOUSLY... GIANT!  I mean it was like the burning tower of pisa... and then at some point it would start to lean and sometimes it would look as though it was leaning towards where we were sitting and then I'd fear for my life of having giant burning logs falling on top of me... but I would just have to sit quietly while each of the super important camp director/counselors spoke about loons and the history of camp and about how after we all left for the summer a lake monster that lived near by would dip back into the lake that he kindly let us use for the summer while he hung out in the woods up in the hills....

OK sooooo then we'd each light a candle on a little piece of wood shapped like a boat and there would be a little area that was blocked off in the shallow part of the water by the docks at the lake.  We'd make a wish as we set the boat into the water.

Of course me being a little kid I would always wish to fly.  Then the next day I'd get super sad when I didn't have any sort of wings sprout out, or magical levitation skills happening.

NOTHING.

Stupid good for nothing wishing boat...  So then I would be all let down.

And I'd be sad for like a week.  And then people would have to explain to me that you can't wish for things like that.

Then I would ask well how come there has to be rules on things I can wish for!  And they would just try to explain that only wishes can be granted out of things that are more likely to happen.

I would just look at them and say well I think that wishing from your imagination is much more fun than wishing in the real world.

SO I still wish from my imagination.  I get let down a lot, but it's ok.  If you never wish or dream... then maybe that ONE time it does finally come true couldn't have ever happened!

So to this day I still try to reach for the stars in every wish.  I guess technically that's like trying to fly.  But more metaphorically than actually.  Unless I get on a plane.  Then I'm actually flying.

Anywho so yea those little wishing boats.  They were always fun though.  I mean even if wishes don't come true... it's still fun to dream.

Also it was a pretty neat view to see over a hundred little burning candles all floating around out in the water.  I would just stare out and watch the wishes grow in number... wondering what everyone else wishes for and if it was as silly as my wish was to fly.

But who knows... maybe one day... something you wish for will come true!  I mean isn't that old saying...

"Careful what you wish for, you just might get it."

So wish away beyond your wildest dreams tomorrow on 11/11/11 at 11:11... and why not try both AM and PM double the wish!

And maybe a little green cricket will stop by and grant it for you.
