And Now For A Creative Announcement Or Two

And now for a creative announcement!

I’ve been brainstorming for some time about an idea I have.  The idea is this:

I think of a lot of short little comedy one or two liners.  I’ve been writing those comedy bits down for some time now.  By some time I mean YEARS.  So I have all these random little comedy bits but what do I do with them all?

The other thing I’ve been doing is making little animation things.  I’ve mostly just been making little test animations to see if this is possible.  So what I’m going to do is take my quasi animation skills that I have now and the comedy tidbit one liners I’ve been coming up with and… join them together.

I introduce you to… comedymation!

So, I’m going to be creating my first comedy animation well, I’ve already started creating it.  But hopefully it won’t take long to make.  I plan for these to be super short and super funny.

So in essence they will be funny “short“ shorts of the animated kind.  Do not confuse these with short shorts of the wearable kind.

Here’s the breakdown of what I’d like to focus on posting on my site as far as creative things go… and again if I have time in my day to accomplish all this:

As close to once a month or every other month I’d like to post one of the following:

A new song

A new funny super short short comedymation video

An idea

I want to try and do a VLOG once a month too  I think Vlogging would be more engaging than just blogging.

Every two months I ‘d like to have a show

I want to try and do more object photography again like the pictures I’ve had on my website for years. I think I might buy something better than a point and shot… whatever the next lowest thing is that isn’t a point and shoot.  And I’ve decided to purchase aperature from the appstore on my mac.  It’s only 80 bucks and it should do just fine. A friend of mine suggested uploading to smugmug?  Then I can sell them?  I don’t know about all that.  I have to figure out the tunecore thing with my songs on itunes first.

And of course I’d like to continue with my daily blogging.

I def need to do at least one new artist photoshoot this year I still want something in the summer at the beach or boardwalk… I need to brainstorm more for that and try to figure something out.

Lastly I want to try and record every 3 months a live song.

That’s a lot!  We’ll see how it goes.  I just have sooooo many creative things in my head and not enough time in the day to share them all!

So look for my first comedy animation shorty mcshort up next month.  As well I should have a new song up very soon too!!!

A Congrats!

This is a “last minute breaking news just decided to post this as my blog today instead of what I was going to post and I’ll post the other blog tomorrow” blog post…

I get excited when I see big things happening for people I’ve met…  Especially when it’s involving a creative talent!  I admire creativity and I just get so excited when great things happen for anyone at all but even more excited for when great things happen for people I’ve met along the road of life.

I’m a creative person and it just makes me happy to see others doing creative things.

So I just want to post this straight from my heart because I think it’s wonderful news and I just want to say congrats.

Today I want to post big congratulations!

The photographer that took my spring photo-shoot last spring is featured on Groupon in the Philadelphia area right now!!!  How cool is that?!?!?  That’s nothing to sneeze at!

The photos that were taken came out awesome and I absolutely love them.  We did the photo-shoot in Valley Forge and there was even an unexpected few photos in front of nice car with its owner making a stop on his way to a car show.  It was a fantastic day and the photographer was awesome to work with as well.  Here's one of the photos...

If you haven’t heard of Groupon, it is a site that helps out both local businesses and buyers.  It lets both sides win by making a deal of buying in large groups.  It's a cool site... Check it out at:

www.groupon.com

So congratulations to Kara Loomis!  She’s a very talented photographer and I mean that genuinely!  I have the photos she took all over my site and on my faceboook fan page as well.  As of this writing the buyer number was 61.  That’s pretty awesome!  Hopefully there will be more buyers, as there is still time to purchase the Groupon offer.

This sounds pretty great for her photography business.

So a Big Congrats!

Be sure to check her out at:

Cha Cha Cha Cha Cha Changing (the clocks, ahead)

Sing the title like the bowie song.  Cha Cha Changes... time my change me...

So today we changed the clocks.  Spring ahead is it?  Yes I believe so.  I feel like right now in my life that’s sort of where I’m at.  I’m springing ahead.  I’m changing my internal clock.  There are so many big changes happening in my life at the moment in all aspects.

I’m getting a new apartment.  I’ve changed the way my cash flows around in my finances to better manage that.  I’ve decided that for the heck of it I’m working out and changing my physic to try and bulk up a little instead of being a little wimp dude.  I’m also going to be cutting my hair again like it was last year for the heck of it.  And then I’m going to shave off my beardy beard.  Then maybe I’ll grow it all back long and donate to locks of love again.  I don’t know?  So yea there’s lots more going on but those are just the things on the top of my head… insert witty hair related joke.

I don’t know how I feel about the clock change.  It never made sense to me.  It was always kind of random.  But then again most things in history appear to be random and don’t make sense, but really they have a long past and there’s a reason why they are the way they are.  I’m a fan of learning about the history of why things are the way they are.  It’s all so fascinating.

So I’m not posting much because I barely had time to write anything today!  But I wanted to get something up so here it is.  This whole writing one blog a day thing isn’t easy!  I still have a million and a half topics and I always think of soooo much more to write about then I possibly could ever write.  But it’s just a matter of finding the time to write.  I promise to keep it up though even if it’s just little posts like this.  But I have a bunch of good ones on the way soooooooooooooo stay tuned.

Good night all and have a fantastic day tomorrow!

Hope for Japan (and friends)

Today I’d just like to take a moment to send out prayer, hope, a moment of silence and reflection to Japan and all the other area’s affected by today’s earthquake and tsunami.

Tragedy happens, and it’s terrible when it does.  So… this blog post is for everyone to reflect on and send their hearts off to those affected by the tsunami today.  It will take a long time to repair and rebuild and clean up and heal.

We are one planet, one people.

Speed Dating? Bring MACE.

Real quick, I TOTALLY spaced off doing a blog post to a reaction to something in the news yesterday.  I apologize!  I was just too excited about the whole nook loading library books on thing.  Again i'm super sorry!!!  So tomorrow I'll find whatever is top news and then post something about that.  I was going to do maybe world news or something serious, but I think it will be more interesting to include all news.  So it could be anything from entertainment to sports, to science, or business or worldly events.  I might do something funny or serious.  Maybe even I'll try to do what they do on one of the shows on the E! Channel.  Ummm.. talk soup?  Or maybe even something like The Onion where it's a parody article.  Hmm... who knows?!?!?  That way it will be interesting and fun and you just never know what i'll write!  Sometimes sad, sometimes happy… always interesting.

Oh BTW... speaking of interesting... CAN WE TALK ABOUT LAST NIGHT'S EXPERIENCE?!?!?!

So.... Ok, show of hands... how many people have ever been...

Speed dating.

Yes.

I went.  I did… it was an experience.

I know what you’re saying outloud right now  “YOU WENT WHAT?!!?!?!?!  TELLL ME ALL ABOUT IT... I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING... NOW.”

Ok... settle down down... If you MUST know about it... here goes...

So I was minding my own business when suddenly I had a message in my inbox from a friend who has started running a speed dating business.
Dear Kenny:

I'm short on guys for this Monday.  Can you please come and be a dater for me!?!?!?

(Me thinking while reading the email: I don't know... I'm probably busy writing blogs and things... and playing guitar and napping... I'll have to think about it...)

Email continues:

There will be free food.

(More of me thinking: FREE GRUB!!!!  I'M IN!!!!!)

Email continues:

Be there at 7pm.

OK.

Cut to last night at 5:30...

Shower – Check

Beard trim – Check  (I really need to just shave and cut my hair)

Fancy clothing’s – Check

Money in the bank or wallet – Cash

So off I went to date with speed.  Which is different from dating on speed.  I've never tried that and if you are looking for a story about dating on speed then you're out of luck. I apologize!

Anywho... so the first thing we all did was get some paperwork stuffs with ice breakers and questions and space to take notes on the other peeps etc. etc.

So… at first that was going ok as people started showing up... well, then things stopped going so smooth... half the ladies got spooked and called off at the last moment….

So by people showing up… I mean… guys.

Now there were tooo many dudes!

Damnit… as everyone is saying at the moment... this is definitely NOT winning.

I ended up sitting out on the sidelines watching for pretty much the whole time.  I did kinda hop in on 2 of the rounds... but for the most part I went to the bar, got a beer... and just watched.

Honestly, I’m glad how it worked out…

It's WAY more fun to watch then it is to be in the thing.

Call me old fashioned but I just like a nice casual coffee shop or dinner and a beer night out kinda thing going on with one person.  Maybe it’s just me but I really want to get to know the person!  Ya know?

As far as the spectators view… They should seriously have a speed dating show!  People are entirely way too awkward about this.  They are like what do we talk about!?!?!  And then you can see them getting all nervous in their seat about wondering if the other person is interested in them or are they sitting there thinking yea this person sucks NEXT.

Oh wait... they kind of did make a show about this... it was called Next.

I miss watching Next on MTV.  Haha... what a classic idea.

So anyways more on the speedy dating.  It was like a highschool dance… during breaks… most of the guys were all on one side and most of the girls on the other… the guys were all being macho and talking dude like camaraderie and the girls were being all well… we’ll get to that in a bit!  It was the most interesting part... what the girls were talking about...  ohhhhhh the anticipation!

No skipping ahead!  Just read.

Anywho… so I don’t know basically the way it goes is kind of like you sit across from the person and just interrogate them for a 5-minute interview.  My thing again is how much can you really learn from someone in 5 minutes?  I don’t think a lot.  But I guess that’s the idea of the speed dating process right?

So…. At this point you’re asking WHAT was soooooo interesting about this?  You haven’t said ANYTHING that’s made me not think that what I just read was a complete waste of my time.

Ok HOLD on… so I’m getting to that!  Honestly… would I EVER waste your time???

Don't answer that.  Let me rephrase that question...

umm... would I... hmmm... ok... how about...

If I have I’m sorry!  That makes me sad.  I hope everyone who reads my blog is enjoying it!  Right?

Well so towards the end of the night when most of the dates had finished up a few of the dudes actually left early.  Since there were too many guys and not enough dolls (insert witty Guys and Dolls reference).

Well sooooooo…. A few of the girls were kinda chatty chattin again in their little girl-friend group they had formed… and they started talking about one of the guys that left and how they thought he was weird…. I decided to come over and sorta mingle in so I could get in on the gossip.

It’s like a real life Talk Soup episode!

So… I came in about here:

Girl A: “…you know he’s still outside just sitting there waiting… like across the street.  I think he’s waiting for us all to leave”

Girl B: “OMG… that’s sooo creepy!”

Girl C: “Well I came prepared!  I have my MACE.”

HOLD UP…. MACE!?!?!?!

Uh…. What?  It was funny at first…  Everyone laughed at it.

Then things got awkward.  What if he really WAS gonna try something?  Maybe he was upset that not enough girls showed up?  I dunno… SCARY…

Just so you know: he was just waiting for a ride.  I just think he didn’t have wheels… poor dude.  This actually makes me sad for him now… he wasn’t trying to be creepy… he just didn’t have wheels of his own!  I think I’m going to come back to a thought on this whole judging others thing at the end of this blog… I just read something in the book I’m reading and the line fits with this.  It just blew me away… not to get all preachy… but It just makes sense!!!  So… ok I’ll come back to this.

But…

I guess maybe speed dating can get a little risky?  So up until that moment I was just kinda like sorta eh this is ok… but it was just something I was doing for the heck of it.  Then at that moment I’m like wow… some people are pretty serious about this!  She must have the MACE in the first place for a reason right?

I mean if a dude would REALLY wait until after to follow some girl back to her car… that’s just not right.  He would need to rethink his morals and values.

This is definitely a not very gentlemanly thing to do.  The more I thought about it the more it upsets me that girls need to carry around pepper spray.  What sorta world is this?

Sooooo seriously guys… on behalf of the male sex… stop that stuff… have some self-control and manners!

Ok so coming back to what I said I was going to come back to  I think this quote pertains to what happened there with the MACE convo from last night… here’s the quote from the Ragamuffin book I’m reading:

“Freedom in Christ produces a healthy independence from peer pressure, people-pleasing, and the bondage of human respect.  The tyranny of public opinion can manipulate our lives. What will the neighbors think?  What will my friends think?  The expectation of others can exert a subtle but controlling pressure on our behavior.”

I mean… I feel like that is so relevant to what happened there.

No one should be judging the dude before he’s even done anything!

I mean, yes it’s ok for the girl to be protective and defensive I agree… but be careful what you think of people.  Assuming things can’t ever be good!

Maybe I’ve interpreted it all wrong… but that’s what I got out of it.

OK final thoughts

Just one.

Dating is emotionally draining.  Yea, it can be fun.  But… I suppose I’m just kinda… wiped out.

Maybe I do need to just stop trying and let what will be will be?

On another note:

I’m going to be doing something that will hopefully increase my potential odds of not being single anymore.

What’s that you ask?

Living in my own place.

What?!?!?!?!

Yes!

Soon.

All shall be revealed.

Now… I just have to find myself a TV and a couch.  Anyone have a TV and a couch I can have?  No?  Looks like it might be time to hit up IKEA.

My life is about to get infinitely better.

Here’s to my very own bachelor pad.

Stay Quenched My Friends

Yesterday I lost my water bottle.

Little waterbottle how I wonder where you are.  Maybe you ran off to bigger and better things?  Maybe you went to chase after your dreams?

I’ll never know…

I’m not sure where it went.  I had it in the morning when I got to work.  I drank out of it.   It was on my desk… and then… it just vanished?  I have no idea where it went!

It’s ok, It served me well for the past 3 years.  The old bottle was the classic Klean Kanteen 27oz bottle.

http://www.kleankanteen.com/products/classic/klean-kanteen-27oz-classic.php

I had the classic cap without the little drinky spout.  Just a plain old bottle to hold water in and sip throughout the day.  I like Klean Kanteen bottles, because I just think it’s an all around thumbs up company and the bottle is very high quality.  As long as it doesn’t run away like mine did… this thing will last FOREVER.  So it’s a pretty serious bottle for those who are interested in really getting into the whole having a serious pro level water bottle.

This thing is too legit to quit.  If you get what I’m saying… and I think you do.

Well, I decided it wasn’t worth the time and effort to try and retrace my steps and figure out where it had gone (update: I did it anyways… and still found nothing).  So I headed over to REI to replace the bottle with the same one.  When I got to the water bottle section I found that they now have a new Bigmouth Widemouth version of the same bottle I had.

I decided what the heck, I’ll try out the widemouth one.  So I bought it.

http://www.kleankanteen.com/products/wide/klean-kanteen-27oz-wide.php

In widemouth they only have the brushed metal look.  Which is ok with me because I like brushed metal… I think brushed metal always looks good.  That stainless steel look…

In my future house and future kitchen I want 3 looks…

Look one: Stainless Steel/brushed metal

Look two: treated wood

Look three: Granite

I like this one…

I like this one a little more…

I like this one the most…

OK, so… when I say MY future kitchen… that’s probably only gonna happen in my head… cuz let’s be honest… am I really going to have any say in what kitchen I want in my future house?  I like to think I will… but really, it’s all up to the lady of the house.  Guys, don’t kid yourself, you know the girl always gets what she wants eventually.  And that’s the way it should be!  At least I think that’s how it should be.  What’s that saying?  Happy wife = Happy life.

Anywho back to the bottle…

So what are the benefits of the widemouth?  Well, for one it can fit ice cubes in much easier.  So this coming summer I’ll be able to throw some ice cubes in to keep the water nice and chilled inside.  Another advantage is that it’s easier to clean.  The narrow bottle actually requires a bottle brush to get inside and clean it out.  This one can fit just the regular dishwand thingy that I use for the other dishes.  And lastly the top takes less twisty turn around times to take off.  So I can get my drink on quicker!

Well there ya have it.  So if you see my old bottle thumbin along the side of the road.  Feel free to give it a ride!

Stay thirsty my friends or in this case, stay quenched!

Tip Em With Kindness

I call this “Tip Em With Kindness”… it’s a play on the phrase “Kill Em With Kindness”…

If you are not familiar with the killing with kindness process and are in need of instructions on how this works see the following link:

http://www.ehow.com/how_4547473_kill-em-kindness.html

Since I’m not about serving prison time…  I’ll be avoiding any killing even with kindness… and even of the plant kind…  But… I’ll gladly talk about tipping.  Ok, that didn’t transition so well…

I feel like this blog post resembles a Simpson’s episode right now.  Completely unrelated topics leading one into another so that the beginning has nothing to do with the end, and yet it has EVERYTHING to do with it… its pure genius. The Simpsons are pure genius… I, however, am not.

Right, so… tipping.

I’m a big fan of tipping as much as you can, or I think I mean tipping as much as you can afford.  Even if the service is bad, I still like to tip lots or mostly the standard 20 percent.  I guess compared to how much a big movie star with a lot of money like, maybe, Vince Vaughn tips, perhaps 20 percent isn’t a lot?  But to me 20 percent is a big tip!  I picture Vince tipping like double the bill.  And doing it with class and style in one suave move without blinking.  Instead he’d be winking.  Doesn’t he seem to wink a lot, or is it just me?  I wish Vince taught classes on how to be classy… a “class” class… he’s a lady charmer that one!  If I were a lady I’d be charmed!  Heck I’m not a lady and I’m still charmed!  So there ya go.

Sorry, I’m Simpson-ing again, back to tipping.  Real quick: just to clarify we are talking about the kind of tipping you do in restaurants after you eat and not the kind involving cows.

So I guess I’ll tell another story, like yesterday.

I’m reminded of one winter when I was taking a road trip from here to upstate NY then to Vermont then to Maine and then back to Philadelphia.  Somewhere in NY State along highway 90 I stopped at an IHOP.  I wanted to write down some lyric ideas on my laptop that, while driving, burst into my mind.  So there I was in the IHOP and I wanted to order something stupid and small like a short stack of pancakes and sit there and write.  I mean I was just in the mood for some pancakes (and lyric writing)!  And you know when you gotta have your pancake fix… you gotta get it!  Know what I mean?  So ok, I sit down and wait for the waitress lady to come take my order, which eventually she did.  Well, my gosh, she was just downright mean; it was as if she was just angry that she had to serve me.  Or maybe she had a secret disliking of pancakes.  In which case I’m not sure why you’d get a job at IHOP.  That’d be like getting a job DJing at a rap station but you don’t enjoy rap.  I mean right?  Maybe you like pop music and you got waitlisted on the pop station so you’re DJ at the rap station while you wait?

Maybe she was waitlisted at Denny’s so she was just killing time at IHOP.  Again with the killing!  So much of this, makes me sad.  Especially time, or plants… or a clock with a plant design on it.  That would make me extra sad.  By the way, there was a clock on the wall with a plant on it.  It was super out of place.  I noticed it right as I was sitting down.

So, I’m like well who knows… I’m sure she’s not actually mad at me.  I know that probably something else is going on.  Maybe something else that day, or even something else in her life in general.  Really it could be anything.  Maybe she had some terrible pain in her foot and so all the walking around from table to table was just absolutely unbearable and was getting worse with every passing moment making her long for the end of her shift when she could clock out and just go home.  But, Every time she looked up at that clock with the pretty little plant on it she was reminded of her favorite little plant that she accidentally killed 2 weeks ago.  And this made her even more sad, or annoyed, or angry.

I’m just saying maybe…  I don’t know the whole backstory.

So there I sat, and she brought out the pancakes and kind of dropped them down on the table with a loud clang.  And then forgot the syrup so she swore under her breath and then turned around to retrieve the syrup canister.  Of course this made her hand all sticky and so she made it known to me that her hand was now all sticky and rushed off to, I presume the kitchen, to rinse away the syrup stickiness.

Though my short stack consumption experience was short lived she watched me with a disapproving look the whole time waiting for me to finish.  As soon as I ate the last bite she came over and quickly picked up the dishes.  Then she took the receipt out and smacked it down on the table and walked away without saying a word.

My meal of: 1 order of short stack pancakes… only added up to only a few bucks.

So, I thought maybe this lady could use some cheering up.  After all, her poor plant had just died!!!

That poor little plant.  Makes me sad.   I wonder what kind of plant it was?

Well I had an idea.  Maybe she was upset not only because of her foot hurting, and the plant and the clock on the wall that looked like a plant but also maybe she was upset because she couldn’t afford to buy a new plant!

Soooo…

I decided to leave her a super fantastically disproportionately large tip.  So I put a 20 dollar bill on the table.

Yep… 20 dollars.  She came back and picked up the check and the 20 and said in a disgruntled tone…

“I’ll be right back with your change.”

Then she immediately turned to walk off.

I asked after her and started to get out of my seat, “excuse me miss, hold on.”

She turned around and fuming and nearly yelled at me, “WHAT!”

Meekly I responded, “No change necessary.”  It took her a minute to process the thought.

The transition lasted a few seconds as the anger melted away to embarrassment.  Her entire demeanor changed.  Her eyes widened. And she stood there looking at me unable to come up with words.  Eventually we both noticed the onlookers peering around their booths.

“Oh”

Was all she said… and even that was more of a gasp …  then suddenly blushing, she turned and ran off into the back.  I felt kinda goofy, that was over the top and I had completely embarrassed her in front of all her coworkers and the other customers in the restaurant.  Ok no... I felt REALLY GOOFY.

Darnit… I’m such a fool, was all I could think.  I went back and packed up the laptop and got my coat and headed for the door.  Determined to get the heck out of there as fast as possible.

I got somewhere between half and 3 quarters of the way to the door when behind me I hear…

“Excuse me sir!”

I turn around and there was the lady…  she was glowing as if she’d been re-enacting that scene from Cinderella when she first wakes up and sings with the birds.  You ALL know the scene I’m talking about.  If you don’t then break out your copy of Cinderella, put it on the DVD player and grab a big old bucket of popcorn!

Well, there miss Cinderella stood with a little boxed up piece of chocolate cake (and a big smile on her face.)

”Thank you”

Was all she as she handed me the box.

“You’re welcome”

I said back as I received the gift.

Then she turned, almost appearing to be blushing and went off to help another customer.

I turned and headed off on my way.

I guess what I’m trying to say with that is well… anger, or sadness, or unhappiness can be just as contagious as kindness.  So instead of me getting mad back at her, and leaving a tiny or non-existent tip… and then leaving on my way to then anger someone else in some sort of whisper down the lane of angriness… I ended up changing her mood with my action… well who knows what happened after that.  But I think we both went on the rest of that day feeling pretty good.

If nothing else… I got some chocolate cake out of it. Mmmmmm chocolate cake

Randomly on an unrelated note… today is the only day that is a command… march 4th… soooooo march forth with kindness on into the world.  No matter what is done to you… just pay and repay in kindness.

Chocolate Soymilk

Today’s topic is reader suggested.  I was asked to write about:

Chocolate Soymilk

What am I supposed to write about that? Chocolate… soymilk…  ACTUALLY…  I do have something…  I have a story… Wooo hooo… it’s STORY TIME!

Oh boy! oh boy! oh boy!… I LOVE story time!

(Imitation of Wayne’s World scene transition: Dooo looo Dooo looo  Dooo looo)

This was probably my third year of college, although it could have been my second, or fifth... you know college is kind of a blur for me (but isn't it for all of us?).  I was never really a big time party drinker, but I would often go to college parties.  I’m a fan of getting out and socializing it up with some friends.  This one time (not at band camp, at college)…  I went to a party at my friend Ryan’s place… it was a jive little shindig.  It was JUST after the album Transatlanticism by Death Cab For Cutie came out.  So we were all sitting around listening to that and playing some Jenga.  Along with Jenga everyone was drinking various alcoholic drinks.  Since my friend Ryan and I didn’t really drink we were instead sipping on some Silk Chocolate Soymilk purchased from the local Giant Eagle supermarket.  That’s probably part of the reason we became such good friends.  Neither of us were big on getting, as the college kiddies called it, shwasted.  So we were just enjoying the party with our chocolate soymilk instead.

The game of Jenga finished up and the people playing decided to mingle with the rest of the party goers.

Oh, so speaking of Jenga if anyone has ever been to Portland, Maine there is a bar in old port that has a GIANT game of Jenga that you can play!  It’s kinda neat.  Although, it’s probably more impressive to stand back and watch all the super drunk people get pumbled with giant Jenga blocks and then fall over after someone pulls the wrong piece out.  If you're ever nearby check it out:

http://oasisportland.com/

Sorry, ok back to story time…

So this girl sat down next to me and was drinking something with rum in it.  LOTS OF RUM in it.  Also let’s just say she had DEFINTELY been drinking whatever this drink was for quite some time or probably the whole night (aka she was drunk… and when I say drunk… I mean sloshed, see also shwasted).  So she asked me what I was drinking… I said it was chocolate soymilk.  To which she responded…

“EWWW… GROSS!!!!”

Then she leaned in close to me as if to peer into the cup and said,

“Can I try some?  I’ve never had chocolate soymilk.”

I said, ok let me go get you a cup.  She said…

“NOoooooooooo ssssokkkkkk jusss giveme yourrrs…” (imitate drunk girl voice)

it was kinda like... this scene...

"Just give me a second... I'll be right back."

Mmm... classic.  That's a good scene.

ok so yea...

So she took my cup from me and drank some of it.  Then she stopped… made a face as if she was going to puke and then drank a little more.

She sat for a minute just staring at me and doing that little drunken person thing where they sort of waiver back and forth as if they are on a boat at sea.  And kinda stare at the wall or not directly at you but sorta around you.

I was about to put my hand in front of her face and wave and say hellllooooo you ok??!?!?!

When after about 10 or 15 seconds of silence… she hands the glass back to me.  Then she says…

“Needs more rum in it, I can barely taste the alcohol.”

Need I reiterate the point that she was REALLY drunk?

Soooo I says to her, I says, “Umm… there isn’t any alcohol in it”

Then she said “oh well THAT’s NO GOOD! Let me fix that for you…”

Before I could decline the offer she had grabbed the cup from my hand, staggered through the living room mingling crowd and straight into the kitchen.  After a short time she repeated the same action but in reverse, crashed into me on the couch as she attempted to sit and handed it to me.  “All better!”

She sat there looking at me as if waiting for me to take a drink of it.  I smelled it a few times and then looked up and smiled at her; I think it was half chocolate soymilk and half rum.  So with her watchful and waiting eyes still there…

I took a sip.  Then forced my face from a grimace to a grin… and said to her “it’s, great thanks.”

Meanwhile I’m pretty sure I just ingested at least 2 shots worth of rum.

Then a couple of partygoers marched by yelling “JENGA!!!  JENGA!!! JENGA!!!”

She yelled back “I’M IN THIS ONE!” Then looked at me and said, “If you need anything else come find me!”  with that she got up and joined the new game.

I decided it was best to discretely dispose of the concoction.

Let’s just say rum and chocolate soymilk go together about is well as… um… nothing.  It's just gross.  Don't try it.

And that concludes storytime! There ya go, that’s my post today on the topic of chocolate soymilk.

Mmmmmm Apples

So I’ll admit it I like apple products.  I don’t know what it is, but they just give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.  I like things that give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside…

Things that give me warm fuzzy feelings:

Playing my guitar

Writing songs

Playing songs for people

Coffee shops

Coffee and tea

Movies with friends

Good food

Drinks with friends

Sleeping in

Hugs

Kisses (the Hershey kind)

And of course I dislike things that don’t give me the warm fuzzy feelings:

Having to wake up before 12 noon

Working in a basement (they need to move our office up a few floors!)

Horn honkers… just have some patience yo!

Ok that’s all I can think of at the moment.  Apparently more things give me fuzzy feelings than not.  Maybe I’m a glass half full kinda guy?  Perhaps.

So ok, I know some people love apple products and some people hate them (why be hatin’?).  I’m not FANATICAL about them.  But like I said… warm fuzziness all over this body when I am using my macbook and eye phone. So, yes, I have two of their products (the macbook pro and iphone) and as long as I’ve had both of them (about 2 years now) I’ve, I was going to say very few problems, but I’ve actually experienced had no problems!  So knock on wood that I continue to not have any problems.

I also own a Dell Mini, which I like a lot too.  On the mini I mainly run Ubuntu Linux.  I rather like that OS a lot.  And then on my work PC it’s windows 7.  So I try to do it all!

I’m like the united nations of computer Operating systems users.  Sorta?  Hmm, that sounded wittier in my head.

Well anywho the idea is that to try and stay exposed to as much as I can.  I like to learn and constantly try to stay on top of what’s new and hot and cool and what all the kids are using these days.  All these peeps using all these HOT and COOL products.  I guess hot and cool are the same thing?  So something that’s NOT cool or hot would be what?  Extra hot?  Extra cool?  Luke warm?

That joke was just luke warm (aaaaaaaand I just insulted myself).

So what IS hot on this fine Wednesday in March?   Today was the official unveiling of the iPad 2!  Or as my Aussie friend in Maine called it… the iPad Squared. (There’s your shout out… it’s not the Grammy’s but just admit it.. my blog is ALMOST as HOT and COOL as the Grammy’s… if I’m ever on the Grammy’s I still promise to give you a shout out)

#myblogislukewarm (can you use hashtags in a blog?  I just did. Deal wit it.)

Now, I don’t actually own an iPad.  I own an iPhone and so I figured maybe it was slightly redundant to own a giant iPhone (or a GiPhone)?  I mean, that’s KINDA what it is!  Alright I’ll admit, I have played around with them and I think they are pretty neat devices.  You can check out the new iPads by heading to apple’s website.  It’s right on the front page, at least at the moment.

www.apple.com

So I just don’t have a current need for one, and thus I won’t be purchasing an iPad 2 (iSquared).  What I do have a need for is one of the new MacBook Pro’s from that lineup recently released.

They refreshed the new MacBook pro’s a short while back and OH MY do look to be absolutely scrumptious (that is, if I were to be eating one for breakfast, or as a snack, which I’m not… in case you were wondering about that, I just wanted to use the word scrumptious to describe something).    Actually they look exactly the same as the previous ones.

Well so, every year I replace mine with the newest one and ebay the old one.  That way I can still get the latest and greatest but only pay a small amount of mula every year in net costs after selling the old one.  This keeps it so it doesn’t actually cost a lot of money for me to own the latest and greatest.  I figure I spend so much time in front of the my computer doing so many things like regular work, or working on music, or creative writing, or trying to start these funny cartoon animation things (coming soon).  It’s kind of a way to keep the creative juices flowing knowing I’ll have the new and nifty features on the device I use the most.

So long story short I was super excited for the MacBook pro’s to be refreshed.  For the most part they just tweaked them… not tweaked like when you’ve had too much coffee but more like they just changed a thing here and a thing there.  The “thing” that they changed that I’m looking forward to using the most is the new data transfer port called thunderbolt.

http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt/

Thunderbolt will transfer data at speeds of something insanely blazingly super-duper fantastically FAST like 10 gigabits per second.

That makes the current USB 2.0 transfer rate of 480 megabits per second or 0.46 Gbps look like poop.

I don’t currently see any drives available for purchase… But I’m assuming they will be on the market momentarily.  (Hold please… inserts Michael Bolton’s greatest hits music during waiting period)

If you’re impatient honk your horn now.  #honkhonk

So for those of you who work with massive amounts of data, especially media, this will be AWESOME.  I work with loads of raw music files when recording and they takes ups lots of space!  Archiving those to external drives is a pain in my toosh.  If you work with lots of large media files of any sort including: photos, videos, database files, etc.  Then maybe this might be something that interests you too.

OK so lets say you aren’t a mac person?

Well don’t fret!  Intel developed the technology and it looks as though it will be on both Apple products and PC products alike.

Here’s some links to check out:

and here’s a thundercat… I mean thunderbolt hard drive:

http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/02/lacies-thunderbolt-enabled-hard-drive/?src=busln

So I plan to purchase one of the refreshed MacBook pro’s and I’m looking forward to saying goodbye to those old slow USB drives and hello to the superfast thunderbolt transfer speeds.  Although, there’s always the chance it won’t get off the ground…

I mean remember Betamax?  We still have a video of my brother as a baby, naked, being pulled from the sea in some King Arthur re-enactment movie that aired on like PBS in the early 80’s… Fortunately for him it’s in Betamax.  Youtube will have to do without for the time being until we can locate a Betamax player.

until tomorrow...   Enjoy this clip...
